The Brooklyn Nets need a new head coach and they may be looking at an old face to fill the void.

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Nets are interested in former New York Knicks' and Houston Rockets' head coach Jeff Van Gundy. Brooklyn fired former head coach Lionel Hollins back in January, with Tony Brown taking over the interim head coaching position. Brown has led the team to just an 11-33 record during his three-month tenure.

It has also been reported that new Nets' general manager, Sean Marks, is looking at San Antonio Spurs' assistants Ettore Messina and Ime Udoka as potential head coaching candidates. Marks has a relationship with both assistants, having been involved with the Spurs organization as both a player and a coach.

If the Nets do pursue Van Gundy, they will have to lure him from his comfortable commentator job with ESPN. He has served as a color commentator with the ESPN network since 2007, when he was fired by the Rockets.

During his head coaching career, Van Gundy amassed a 430-318 record, including an NBA Finals appearance as Knicks' head coach in 1999.
