Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie may not be one of the more popular players in the league today, but once he retires, he could become a household name and be very famous among superhero fans.
During an exchange of text messages with Jorge Sierra of USA Today Sports, the 24-year-old Colorado product shared his thoughts about the ongoing NBA Finals. He said he's happy to see Steve Kerr back on the Golden State Warriors bench and added that he respects him a lot. He then gave his opinion on why the team is more hated now after the addition of Kevin Durant.
Dinwiddie also said he believes it's human nature that people hate on Stephen Curry now, despite being one of the most liked players just a couple of seasons ago.
However, the most surprising comment he made was when the 6-foot-6 guard shared his plans once his career is over. Outside of wanting to become a broadcaster some day, he was honest enough to reveal that he plans to make an Iron Man suit, should he have enough resources to make one by then.
“I always thought of a broadcasting career post-NBA as something to do if I needed to make money because it would allow me to be close to the game if I somehow felt my career to be incomplete and needed to fill that emotional hole, but it’s not an actual passion for me (at least right now) as it is for some guys.”
“My interests and hobbies are different than that. I love Twitter because of the difference in opinions, I enjoy the banter. But it’s much easier for me to see myself going to culinary school or taking engineering classes to try to dedicate myself to building an Iron Man suit if I find myself with an abundance of time after my career is over.”
That was very serious. If I’m done at 35 or so and I’m blessed to have a ton of money and the resources, that’s what I’m going to attempt to do.”
It remains to be seen if he'll stay true to his word and indeed makes one after he plays professional basketball. After finding out his future plans, he may now have more fans, and people rooting for him to earn a lot of money, in order to have the suit come into fruition.
