Terry Rozier says the level of interest the Charlotte Hornets showed him when free agency opened factored into his decision to sign with them.
The Hornets are giving Rozier the opportunity to start, something he's been looking for for quite some time. The guard signed a three-year, $58 million contract with Charlotte.
The Boston Celtics traded Rozier to the Hornets for Kemba Walker and a few draft picks.
Terry Rozier said the level of interest the Hornets showed when free agency opened carried his decision: The chance to lead, which the Hornets told him they wanted from him.

This past season, Rozier averaged 9.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 38.7 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 78.5 percent from the free-throw line. It was an overall tough year for Rozier, who had to go back to the backup role with Kyrie Irving healthy.
Rozier finally gets the chance to be the full time starter in Charlotte after being open about how he doesn't really like coming off the bench.
After losing Walker and Jeremy Lamb in free agency, the Hornets aren't going to be a playoff team next season. Besides, they missed the postseason this in the 2018-19 campaign with Walker and Lamb on the roster. Expect Rozier to have a high usage rate in 2019-20 and inflated stats.
Charlotte has a long ways to go in terms of building a winning roster, though giving Rozier the chance to develop could be a step in the right direction.
