The Charlotte Hornets have reportedly begun to target Boston Celtics restricted free agent point guard Terry Rozier, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Hornets All-Star point guard Kemba Walker is widely expected to sign with the Celtics once free agency begins on June 30. Charlotte has begun to target point guards and is interested in Rozier.

As Kemba Walker continues to be poised to sign elsewhere, Charlotte has begun to target point guards, such as Celtics free agent Terry Rozier, league sources said. Rozier is a target for the New York Knicks, too.

As a restricted free agent, Rozier can sign an offer sheet with the Hornets, for example, and then the Celtics would have 48 hours to match the offer sheet or let him walk.

This past season, Rozier averaged 9.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists for the Celtics while shooting 38.7 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 78.5 percent from the free-throw line. The 25-year-old wants to be a starting point guard in the NBA and he would get that chance with the Hornets.

Rozier made $3,050,390 this past season. His qualifying offer is worth $4,285,798. The rugged defender is likely seeking to make around $15 million per season. We'll see if the Hornets are prepared to offer Rozier that much money.
