The Cleveland Cavaliers earned a big 109-94 win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, it appears James Harden was a casualty in that victory, as he's been confirmed to have suffered an injury.
Harden, who is 36 years old, is said to be dealing with a fractured thumb. The organization announced his injury. He is considered questionable for Wednesday's contest against the Milwaukee Bucks, and an update on his status will be provided before the start of that game.
“Cavaliers guard James Harden injured his right thumb in last night's 109-94 win over New York,” said the franchise. “A postgame examination by the Cavaliers' medical staff, followed by X-rays taken today, confirmed a non-displaced fracture of the distal phalanx. Harden will undergo treatment and continued evaluation and will be listed as questionable for tonight's game against Milwaukee. An update on his status will be provided as appropriate.”
Despite the injury, the 11-time All-Star still played 32 minutes in the Cavaliers' win over the Knicks. He ended the contest with 20 points, two rebounds, and four assists while shooting 44.4% from the field and 57.1% from beyond the three-point line. He was one of the main contributors in the contest, even after suffering an injured thumb.
Although he is dealing with a fracture, it's a good sign that Harden is still deemed questionable for Wednesday's game against the Bucks. His status suggests that, even if he does miss time, it could be a short stint. Either way, the Cavaliers will monitor the injury closely. Especially considering James Harden was brought in to help the club be more competitive in the playoffs.
