While the 2018 Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors have generated immense interest from the public, it has also caused intense disdain among many other fans primarily because it involves the same teams for the fourth year in a row.

For those tired of seeing the same casts in the “movie” the NBA produces over and over again every June, Bill Simmons candidly suggested that the league should have a hard cap soon, as noted by Reddit user, uncle_dirk. Of course, this suggestion has a lot to do with the fact that the Cavs and the Warriors are the two biggest NBA spenders this season. Cleveland has a total salary of $135,980,450, while Golden State is right behind the Cavaliers with a payroll of $135,371,746, per Spotrac.com. Both figures are way over the NBA salary cap of $99.09 million, but since the NBA is a soft-cap league, teams opt to pay luxury taxes or use “exceptions” in order to legally go over the cap.

The fourth installment of Cavs vs. Warriors in the NBA Finals, however, is not something that comes as a big shock, as both teams are labelled as favorites to win their respective conferences way before the 2017-18 season even started.

With four All-Stars, including the hot-shooting trio of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson, the Warriors are always going to be the team to beat not only in the Western Conference, but in the entire league.

The Cavaliers, meanwhile, have the best player on the planet in LeBron James, who has almost single-handedly brought his team into the NBA’s grand stage amid personnel problems in Cleveland.

With free agency coming up this summer, the possibility of LeBron leaving Cleveland could almost assure that there would not be no Cavs vs. Warriors Part V next year, though, there’s always the chance that he stays.
