With over a month and a half to go before the March 25 trade deadline, the trade rumors are slowly beginning to creep up. According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the early rumblings suggest that the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, and Cleveland Cavaliers are ā€œopen for business.ā€

In terms of early deductions, this much is clear: Sources say Oklahoma City, Detroit, and Cleveland are open for business (to varying degrees, of course, and with young prospects off limits). Our Shams Charania has chronicled the New Orleans situation, with Lonzo Ball and J.J. Redick known to be up for discussion.

This really comes as no surprise considering that these three teams are among the worst teams in the NBA.

Though the Cavs started out with a surprising 9-9 mark through the first 18 games of the season, the losses for Cleveland have begun piling up as of late. They have now lost five in a row and after hovering near the playoff vicinity through the early goings of their campaign, they now sit at 12th in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have the worst record in the East at 6-19. As for the Thunder, they currently sit at 14th in the West with a 10-14 mark.

Rumors around Cleveland are saying that they may look to shop big man Andre Drummond, who they acquired at the trade deadline last season. Drummond could gain a ton of interest over the next month, with him being an expiring deal and a possible piece to help a contender get over the top.

Detroit has a number of veterans they could dangle around, including former All-Star Blake Griffin. The early goings of the season indicate that Griffin has fallen off a major cliff in his age-31 campaign. It's hard to envision what kind of value the five-time All-NBA forward has right now, considering his major drop-off and his $39 million player option next season, which he'll undoubtedly exercise.

Finally, the Thunder have savvy vets in George Hill and Al Horford that could be of major value to championship contenders. These two could probably find themselves on the move by as soon as this season, considering that Oklahoma City is embracing a full-on rebuild and youth movement over the next few years.
