The 2025-26 NBA season has yet to begin, but Dallas Mavericks star big man Anthony Davis is already having fun. The Mavs have Media Day duties on Tuesday, with Anthony starting things off with some good banger with the reporters.
Davis jokingly flipped the roles between him and the media, as he took the opportunity to ask questions first.
The former Kentucky Wildcats star said that he would ask a question and that three people can answer it.
“How have you [the media] prepared for the season?” asked Davis (via r/NBA).
Davis then looked in the direction of Tim McMahon of ESPN
“So, Tim, you first,” said a laughing Davis.
The 32-year-old Davis is preparing for his first full season with the Mavericks. He arrived in Dallas in February, via the shocking trade from the Los Angeles Lakers that, of course, involved Luka Doncic. Apart from Davis, the Mavs also got Max Christie and the Lakers' 2029 first-round pick. Los Angeles also received Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris. The third team in that transaction, the Utah Jazz, came away with Jalen Hood-Schifino and two second-round picks.
While that trade continues to be talked about, it's now completely behind Davis, who missed a bunch of games with the Mavericks following the trade due to a left adductor injury. Davis, however, was incredible in the nine games he played in Dallas thread in the 2024-25 regular season, as he averaged 29.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 blocks while connecting on 46.1 percent of his shots from the field in those contests.
Davis, who had surgery on his eye in the summer, will definitely be among those counted on by head coach Jason Kidd to deliver big numbers in what is shaping up to be an intriguing season for the Mavs, who made the NBA Finals in 2024 and missed the playoffs in 2025.
With Dallas starting its first full season without Doncic and Kyrie Irving sidelined with an injury, and not to mention the addition of No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg into the fold, the Mavericks have some questions to answer about how competitive they can really be with all the changes that have happened in the last several months.
