Luka Doncic has battled injury concerns throughout the postseason. The Dallas Mavericks star has yet to miss a game, however. He's hoping to continue that trend in the NBA Finals.

Doncic has been dealing with a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness. The Mavs defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games in the Western Conference Finals last Thursday, giving the Mavs a week of necessary rest. The rest surely benefitted Doncic in a major way.

Still, he's listed on the injury report for Game 1 of the NBA Finals. So is Luka Doncic playing in Game 1 on Thursday night vs. the Boston Celtics?

Doncic was initially labeled as probable on the NBA injury report for Game 1 with his aforementioned right ankle sprain and left ankle soreness. Fortunately, the team eventually upgraded him to available.

The Mavs have closely monitored Doncic's injury status throughout the postseason. Luka has made it clear that he wants to play despite the injury concerns. He's an extremely tough player who does not like to miss games, especially in the postseason.

Doncic has arguably been the best player in the 2024 playoffs. He is averaging 28.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game. He's also shooting 43.8 percent from field goal range and 34.3 percent from beyond the arc. Doncic has dealt with inefficiency with his shot at times, but he's still contributed without question in each of the Mavs' games so far.

Luka Doncic is continuing to build his legacy as one of the greatest Mavericks ever. But he has not played in the NBA Finals yet. As a result, Luka is willing to follow Kyrie Irving in the postseason given his plethora of Finals experience. With that being said, Mavs fans can still expect Doncic to be aggressive on offense and play at an elite level.

After all, he has displayed an impressive ability to take care of business in the big moments.
