The Dallas Mavericks traded Harrison Barnes to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.

In return, they they've freed themselves up a max option to sign down the road, per ESPN's Zach Lowe.

As part of the deal, the Mavs are receiving an expiring contract of Zach Randolph and Justin Jackson's $3.28 million for next year.

What makes this a significant move for Dallas, who recently acquired Kristaps Porzingis in a blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks, is the Mavs' abrupt opportunity to sign another max player very soon.
