After coming in at No.2 among Western Conference frontcourt players in the first release of All-Star fan voting, Dallas Mavericks rookie sensation Luka Doncic believes his dream of becoming an NBA All-Star is within reach.

Luka Doncic got 679,839 votes in the first release of fan voting, trailing only LeBron James. He is fourth in the conference with the most votes and seventh overall in the NBA.

The 19-year-old Mavs rookie admitted he was surprised by the turnout, but he said he's happy with it, especially that it is his dream to make the All-Star.

“I saw the list, so I was just surprised. I thought it was amazing. I was the happiest guy in the world right then,” Doncic told Mavs.com.

“After yesterday, I think it’s a possibility. Everyone dreams to be there. When I was a kid I dreamed about being able to play in the NBA, and now I have a possibility to be in the All-Star game, so it’s just a dream.”

Doncic has been excellent for the Mavs this season. He has taken the league by storm, thanks to his ability to create his own shot like a veteran and his wily dribble moves and footwork .

His flashy stepback reminds many of James Harden. He runs the pick and roll with DeAndre Jordan with ease and is one of the most underrated playmakers in the league. He also has the vision of a point guard and the passing touch of one as well.

So far this season, Doncic has averaged 19.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc. Though he has low percentages, that's expected from a rookie who still is getting used to the pace of the NBA.

The Mavs are 18-19 on the season and currently sit 10th in the NBA's Western Conference. They will face off against the Boston Celtics next at TD Garden.
