The Dallas Mavericks came away with a 102-98 victory on Thursday in a tightly-contested matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. Mavs star Kristaps Porzingis provided us with one of the highlights of the evening as he connected with teammate Dwight Powell on a big-to-big alley-oop play, possibly a play designed by head coach Rick Carlisle.
Even Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle was very impressed with the play, and his NSFW reaction to the same just shows how pleased he was with this big man connection.
Porzingis did not exactly have his best game of the season against the Spurs, logging just 13 points on a miserable 4-of-15 shooting. The All-Star center did add three 3-pointers, eight rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block, though, so it was not a completely awful performance from the Latvian national.
More importantly, Porzingis helped his side to an important bounce back victory following a 110-107 defeat on Sunday against the defending champs, the Toronto Raptors.
Dallas also got rising star Luka Doncic back in this one, following a four-game absence due to an ankle injury. The 20-year-old was his usual dominant self, accounting for a game-high 24 points (9-of-23 from the field, 5-of-8 from the stripe), 10 rebounds, eight assists, and a steal in 33 minutes of play.
The Mavs are now in possession of a 20-10 record, and are sitting comfortably at the fifth spot in a ruthless Western Conference.
