Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle can't wait to coach power forward Kristaps Porzingis next season when the 7-footer will make his Mavs debut.

Although Porzingis has fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered last season with the New York Knicks, he won't be playing this year since the regular season is almost over.

Carlisle says Porzingis has had a positive mindset since day one and that the big man is “very serious about being a great player and obviously wants to win.”

“Everything has been super positive,” Carlisle said, via Tim MacMahon of ESPN. “He's a wonderful guy who is very serious about the game, very serious about being a great player and obviously wants to win. We understood when the trade happened that him playing this year was very unlikely.

“The most important thing is the health of a player of that caliber. We're all thrilled with how it's gone and the direction it continues to go.”

The Mavs are going to have Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic playing together next season. The franchise is hoping the two youngsters will be the second coming of Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash.

Porzingis enters restricted free agency this summer, but all signs point towards the Latvian and the Mavs agreeing to a long-term contract.
