With Luka Doncic rounding into midseason form and Kristaps Porzingis looking like a formidable second star, the Mavs are reportedly seeking for an upgrade that can help bolster their star duo into a trio.
According to NBA insider Matt Moore of Action Network, the Mavs have shifted gears of late. Initially they seemed to be looking for a traditional center, but have since adjusted their focus to a potential stretch four keeping Kristaps at the five spot.

However, the team's assets clearly do not match their level of interests as executives around the league expressed doubt on their ability to add marquee talent.
At present, Jalen Brunson presents the best opportunity for the Mavs to upgrade. The fourth-year guard is having a mini breakout of sorts averaging career highs of 15.9 points and 5.5 assists per game as a secondary ball-handler alongside Luka Doncic. However, it's unclear if a package centered around Brunson nets Dallas any deal that truly moves the needle.
