Entering the 21st season of his illustrious career, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki refuses to stop working on his game. However, despite the fact that the German has been using the summer break to further improve his shooting, the Mavs' living legend proved to be no match to a young girl in a recent game of Knockout.

In a video shared by Mavs.com reporter Dwain Price on Twitter, Nowitzki is seen taking part in a youth basketball camp with a big group of pre-teen kids. The 40-year-old then appears to be challenged by one of the participants for a game of Knockout. Nowitzki quickly obliges and even encourages the crowd to cheer him on.

Unfortunately for the 7-footer, his challenger got the better of him. See the full video below:

Nowitzki was obviously being a good sport and “let” the kid win. The little girl's victory generated a great reaction from everyone in attendance. At the end of the day, it was mission accomplished for Nowitzki as he succeeded in bringing delight to the entire camp.

With all that he has achieved in his 20-year NBA tenure — including a regular season MVP award and one NBA title — basketball has become more than just about winning for Nowitzki. He is no longer the perennial All-Star he once was, and his role for his team has become that of a learned mentor.

Young guns like Dennis Smith Jr. and Luka Doncic can definitely learn a lot from Nowitzki, with the latter more than willing to impart his knowledge on these future superstars.
