The Boston Celtics remain undefeated after two games in the 2024 NBA Finals. Conversely, the Dallas Mavericks are still winless in the series. It is not looking good for the Mavericks at the moment. Down 2-0 following a 105-98 loss at the hands of Jrue Holiday and company, Dallas needs to find a quick answer to its struggles before it's too late. But it's not just the Mavs who seem to have taken a big L Sunday night, as fans from both sides of the aisle join forces to gang up on the refs on social media.

Celtics and Mavericks fans alike feel that the quality of the officiating in Game 2 of the NBA finals was unacceptable, with many pointing their fingers at Tony Brothers.

“So here’s why I don’t believe that for a second. This series is infinitely more interesting if the Mavs win tonight. The real explanation is that @NBAOfficial s are awful at their jobs and Tony Brothers is a war criminal. If Adam Silver cared about his league, he’d address it, said X (formerly Twitter) user @Alf954 when responding to an insinuation that the NBA has already written out a script about the outcome of the finals.

“Tony Brothers when it's time to ruin a game:”

“Tony brothers when it’s time to make the game about himself”

From @tdherndon13: “NBA sure knows how to get viewers to turn off TVs. You make sure refs control the game and fuck one team over so the game isn’t fun to watch. Tony Brothers is ruining basketball.”

“This is as egregious missed foul call on Jaylen Brown but what else is knew with Tony Brothers at the helm?,” posted @MrMakhani.

Mavericks fans will be talking for days about what they perceive to be a brutal no-call on a dunk attempt by PJ Washington during a crucial moment late in the fourth quarter.

With the Mavs looking to make a last push with under a minute to go in regulation, Washington got a defensive rebound and ran downcourt before getting a pass from Kyrie Irving for what could have been an easy dunk. But Washington was blocked by Celtics point guard Derrick White with Jaylen Brown challenging him as well. Dallas fans felt a shooting foul should have been called during the play, which would have sent Washington to the line for a chance to cut down Boston's lead.

“clear foul on pj washington and nothing was called. fuck tony brothers and the other dumbass refs,” said @TheNadiaAmine.

“Need to see the replay- def looks like an obvious foul (Brown’s hand pushes off on PJ’s back). Celtics fans were crying that Tony Brothers was reffing the game. Celtics fans, Tony Brothers is on YALLS side lmao,” posted @DontHateTheH3at.

Earlier in the game, though, some Celtics fans felt the refs were not being fair to the home team.

“Tony Brothers, the official 6th man of the Dallas Mavericks,” said @whataa_jem.

“Mavericks magnet ball and Tony brothers whistle,” @JaysGotNext pointed out.

Celtics fans can forget everything the refs did in Game 2, as their team is now just a couple of victories away from having a championship parade in Beantown. Boston will look to go up 3-0 in the series when it takes on the Mavericks at American Airlines Center for Game 3 on Wednesday.
