It was earlier announced that Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving is set to sit out Saturday's bout against the Dallas Mavericks due to a shoulder injury. Nets head coach Steve Nash provided a quick update on his star's injury, as the rookie coach downplayed Irving's latest knock.

According to Nash, he does not think this injury is anything more than a minor issue (h/t Brian Lewis of the New York Post):

There is a bit of concern surrounding the mysterious injury considering how this was the same shoulder that caused Irving to miss a significant chunk of last season. There were also no earlier reports about this issue, which led some to believe that there might be an underlying problem here.

This does not appear to be the case according to coach Nash, though. It sounds like nothing more than a routine night off for Irving, who is coming off a 27-point performance against the Orlando Magic on Thursday.

Irving will now join Kevin Durant on the shelf for Saturday's tilt, which means that James Harden will likely feats as Brooklyn's lone superstar. The former MVP is more than capable of carrying an entire team on his shoulders, and this is exactly what's going to be asked of him against Luka Doncic and Co.

The Nets have been on an absolute tear of late — even sans KD — winning all of their previous eight games. They now look to make it nine straight against the Mavs.
