The world was supposed to end in 2012 according to the Mayans. Fortunately, that did not happen. If it did, we would not be able to reminisce today about that one time from six years ago when a horde of high school stars, who mostly are now recognizable NBA players, got their minds blown by now-Detroit Pistons star Blake Griffin.

The NBA’s social media team dug that clip up and featured it again to give us all a sense of how fast time and how high Griffin fly (h/t Ballislife.com).

In the video, D’Angelo Russell and some of the top college prospects of that time gathered themselves to watch the high-flying Griffin entertain those in attendance with a series of electrifying throwdowns during a Team USA practice session. Griffin’s dunks left those who witnessed it live in a state of pandemonium and none seemed to be more jacked up by those jams than Russell, who took to the camera and said: “He [Griffin] didn’t even stretch, doe.”

You can also see Zach LaVine reacting as though he just saw someone levitated and never came down. He probably had not much idea back then that he’d win at least a pair of NBA Slam Dunk titles himself in the future. Also making cameos were some future SEC stars like Bobby Portis, Julius Randle, Isaiah Briscoe, and a future high-flying Kansas Jayhawk in Wayne Selden, who, years later would submit his best impersonation of Griffin with this dunk. Tyler Ennis, Kennedy Meeks, Theo Pinson, and Devin Booker were also there.

It was a nice throwback video, but it will make you feel old a bit.
