Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey says Blake Griffin is “getting closer and closer” to making his season debut.
Griffin hasn’t played this season due to lingering issues with his knee and a sore hamstring.

Griffin appeared in 75 games last season for the Pistons. He averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 75.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Article Continues BelowThe Pistons made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2016 due to Griffin’s stellar play. However, Detroit got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round. Griffin only played in Games 3 and 4 due to a knee injury and underwent surgery after the postseason ended.
The Pistons are 3-5 on the young season. Former MVP Derrick Rose has stepped up in Griffin’s absence, but it’s clear Detroit needs Griffin back if it wants to reach the playoffs again. Plus, Rose is currently out with a hamstring injury.
Outside of Rose and All-Star center Andre Drummond — and with Griffin and Reggie Jackson out — the Pistons just don’t have enough players who are difference-makers on offense.
Pistons fans are anxious to see Griffin back in the lineup, but it’s still unclear when that date will arrive.
