Detroit Pistons All-Star power forward Blake Griffin is going to let the team's medical and coaching staff determine when he'll make his season debut.
Griffin hasn’t played this season due to lingering issues with his knee and a sore hamstring:
Blake Griffin (said he feels great) on when he will make season debut: “I have completely stayed out of it. Everybody on our training staff is unbelievable and they’ve put together a really good plan. They don’t really tell me anything beyond the next day.” #Pistons.

Griffin appeared in 75 games last season for the Pistons. He averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 75.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Article Continues BelowThe Pistons made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2016 due to Griffin's stellar play. However, Detroit got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round. Griffin only played in Games 3 and 4 due to a knee injury. He underwent surgery after the postseason ended and is still dealing with the aftereffects.
The Pistons are 2-3 on the young season. Former MVP Derrick Rose has stepped up in Griffin’s absence, but it’s clear Detroit needs Griffin back if it wants to reach the playoffs again.
Outside of Rose and All-Star center Andre Drummond, the Pistons just don’t have enough players who are difference-makers on offense without Griffin, and starting point guard Reggie Jackson is still out due to a back injury.
Pistons fans are anxious to see Griffin back in the lineup, but it's still unclear when that date will arrive.
