The basketball world was given a huge shock on Monday as it was reported that Blake Griffin has been traded by the L.A. Clippers to the Detroit Pistons. Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and a first round pick have all been given up in exchange for the five-time All-Star forward. The Clippers also included Brice Johnson and Willie Reed in the deal.
Of course, the Twitterverse exploded after finding out about the blockbuster trade. Fans did not hold back in giving their reactions as it has divided their opinion on whether Griffin is in a better position to win now or not, while others simply came up with downright hilarious tweets.

Even reporters and NBA analysts from different media outlets took to their Twitter accounts to let their followers know what they think of the trade that caught everyone by surprise, as the Pistons did not emerge as a possible landing spot for Griffin. He wasn't even the Clippers player believed to be the first one to be moved before next month's trade deadline.

First reaction to Clippers trading Blake Griffin: they literally pitched him on being Mr Clipper with a grand free agent presentation in June. Today they ship him to Detroit. Oof!

I imagine Blake Griffin woke up from his nap next to his pool in LA to read he has been traded to Detroit. Then opens his weather app to see that I've shoveled my driveway here twice today, then drops his phone in the pool.

Blake Griffin, one of the most marketable stars in the NBA, is being forced to move from Los Angeles to Detroit in the dead of winter. Thoughts and prayers.

Deandre Jordan was convinced to stay in LA in part by CP3 and Blake Griffin. I wonder what he is thinking now.

The Pistons really turned Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings’ expiring contracts into Blake Griffin.

The deal is expected to be a much talked about topic in the coming days. For what it's worth, Griffin will now have a chance to form one of the best frontcourt tandems in the league today as he will pair up with double-double machine Andre Drummond. It will definitely be interesting to see how they'll co-exist on the same team, but if they can build chemistry immediately, the Pistons could make a lot of noise if they make it to the playoffs.
