It's funny how quickly the world can turn on someone. Lives can change in the course of less than a year. Dreams are made, hopes are shattered. Such is the case of the Golden State Warriors.

Flashback to just two years ago and the Warriors were on top of the basketball world. They had the best shooting backcourt of all time, a Dennis Rodman-esque glue guy, and the best in case of emergency option in NBA history.

And then, in under a summer, it all fell apart.

If the issue was merely Kevin Durant's inevitable departure, that would be one thing. However, Klay Thomspon got seriously injured. Demarcus Cousins who was already injured left the team. Draymond Green was the last of the “Death Lineup” left.

Fast forward to now, and while Curry and Green are playing as well as can be predicted, Klay is injured again and the Warriors are treading water in the dangerous West.

These are the two best trades the Warriors need to make.

Trade 1:

Golden State Warriors receive: Andre Drummond

Cleveland Cavaliers receive: Andrew Wiggins, Eric Paschall

Here is a riddle for you: Why in the hell is Andrew Wiggins owed over $30 million for the next two seasons?

Answer: because Minnesota Timberwolves management is notoriously stupid.

The problem is that with Golden State still footing the bill, and  Curry's contract ending in 2022, they need to get out from under Wiggins' contract. The problem is finding a suitor with either the timeline or lack of brainpower to take him off their hands.

Enter Dan Gilbert.

Like it or not, Cleveland is stuck in the basement for the foreseeable future. All investment should go towards building up for that future. Collin Sexton and Darius Garland make a dynamic backcourt, but they both need space to operate. The team is also not playing Drummond unless he's traded or bought out. Replacing him with a still bouncy, Andrew Wiggins, and you essentially turn into the Joker in The Dark Knight pool cue scene. Tryouts.

In exchange, the Warriors frees itself for both the 2021 and 2022 free-agent class. Kawhi Leonard, Montrezl Harrell, John Collins, and Mitchell Robinsons will all be restricted free agents. If they see an opportunity with the cap space available to maximize their talents, next year's Warriors could be scary. Bargain deals like Richaun Holmes, PJ Tucker, and Evan Fournier can provide tons of depth that Golden State has not been able to enjoy since they signed Durant in the summer of 2016.

Trade 2:

Golden State Warriors receive: Bradley Beal

Washington Wizards receive: Draymond Green, Kevon Looney, MIN 2021 1st Rd Pick

Remember that whole thing about Dan Gilbert being desperate and stupid? Same drill here.

For whatever reason, the Washington Wizards brass consistently believes that their team is only one or two moves away from contending every single season. The medical term is Knicks-itis.

For this trade, you can imagine the logic. Bring in Draymond Green (you won't have a grittier duo of stars than Draymond and Russ). Have him facilitate and defend while tutoring youngster Deni Avdija, and instantly get younger with the talent influx provided by Kevon Looney and Minnesota's upcoming first-round pick.

On the Warriors' side, they get a shooting trio in the backcourt that might never be seen again, enabling Oubre to thrive as a small-ball four. This also frees up space for James Wiseman to operate and grow. That starting five is built for the now and the future.

Warriors Looking To The Present and Future

It seems like Golden State has graduated from the under-the-radar moves that they've made to get to this point as an organization. The franchise's greatest player is in his prime, and the time is now to swing for the fences.

Bob Myers has done that so far. While D'Angelo Russell and Wiggins were misses, they helped pave the way for what can potentially be the most potent shooting offense in NBA history.

Time will tell if the Warriors will continue to swing for home runs rather than singles, but if they intend to do so, the time is now. Green is aging but still has value on the right roster, and we're kidding ourselves to believe that the Warriors actually want to keep Wiggins.

There is no better time to bring the gold back into Golden State.
