Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers might once again be in the running for Executive of the Year, managing to reel in a fifth All-Star in DeMarcus Cousins to an already star-studded starting lineup, but this one-year deal did not come without plenty of impending questions.
The Boogie era could be a short one, easily walking himself into free agency after the end of next season, chasing a larger long-term deal — one he struggled to get early in this offseason.
Yet Myers isn't sweating the potential repercussions, having made the right move to get the best talent available at a discount, considering he will only play for half of the season.

That’s hard enough as it is. So thinking about beyond — we didn’t get these championships by thinking about the next one and the next one. They are very hard to do.”
“I don’t even like the word rental or one-year or this guy’s a free agent, that guy’s a free agent. Every day, he is on our team. Everyone else is on our team. We’re tying to sign one more guy and then win a championship this year. That’s it. What happens after that, who knows.”
The Warriors have managed to keep this core together with plenty of front office savvy, but in order to make the championships materialize, they have had to live in the present and pay the players that are putting the effort to take the organization to such heights.
“I sat over there and people asked me what was going to happen in free agency. Nobody thought this was going to happen,” Myers continued. “Players sign, they leave, they come, they go, there are trades. It’s happening more frequently than ever in our league.”
“Our job, one job, is to win a championship. That’s it. With the players that are on this team. That’s why he came, that’s why he’s here, that’s why everyone is here, to win a championship this year.”
Myers can't put it any more simple than he did — both the Warriors and Cousins are on a mission to get a championship — whatever happens beyond that, happens.
