Stephen Curry has not had it easy during the Golden State Warriors' Western Conference semifinal against the Houston Rockets. After a fairly steady all-around performance in a Game 1 victory, Curry suffered a dislocated finger on his non-shooting hand in Game 2, and has not looked quite right ever since. Over the next three games of the series, Curry has shot a stunning 9 of 34 from beyond the arc, and has missed a number of uncontested layups at the rim.

Still, Stephen Curry performed when Golden State needed it the most. After Kevin Durant went down with a mild calf strain near the end of the third quarter of Game 5 on Wednesday night, Curry picked up the scoring load. He poured in 16 points over the next 14 minutes of play, including 12 in the fourth quarter to help the Warriors take a crucial 3-2 series lead.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have faced a myriad of criticisms for their struggles shooting from the perimeter as Durant has continued to carry the scoring load, and Fox Sports TV host Colin Cowherd thinks the scrutiny has gotten out of control.

On Thursday's edition of “The Herd,” Cowherd explained that he feels the shade being thrown Curry's way is unwarranted:

Cowherd iterated that he feels Curry has not gotten the respect he deserves in comparison to some of his peers, despite being a two-time NBA MVP and a multiple-time NBA champion.

However, Curry's struggles from the field are hard to ignore, even with his late-game heroics on Wednesday night. With Durant ruled out for the remainder of the series, there is no question that Curry will have to elevate his level of play if the Warriors hope to close out the Rockets.
