Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green's playmaking vision extends well beyond the 94 feet of the NBA hardwood. Sometimes it goes into overtime, picking apart every trend following the game. NBA reporter Chris Haynes was once the apple of Green's eye, but for all the wrong reasons.

The Warriors star once thought the reporter was a spy for the Cleveland Cavaliers and was leery of saying too much in front of him after he went from the confines of Quicken Loans Arena to Oracle Arena.

Haynes was the beat writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer (now known as cleveland.com) during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons before he was hired by ESPN to cover the Warriors.

The change gave him a unique perspective, but also put a mark on him as someone Green should watch out for.

Transcript via Drew Shiller of NBC Sports Bay Area:

“I remember when I went to Golden State, Draymond (Green) was a little bit iffy on me initially,” Haynes, now employed by Yahoo Sports, said Wednesday on The Bill Simmons Podcast. “He was like, ‘Oh, you're a spy. You were sent over here by the Cavs (laughter).'

“He was serious.”

Green eventually eased into a relationship with Haynes, but the reporter's problems weren't completely gone:

“I didn't hear from LeBron the whole time since I left to go cover the Warriors,” said Haynes. “It was Christmas Day (2016) — Warriors vs. Cavs in Cleveland. I'm walking to the media room at halftime and LeBron is walking off the court going into the locker room.

“He sees me and yells, ‘You trading a** blah blah blah' (laughter). And then at the end of that game, I tried to go in the locker room. And LeBron's security was like, ‘You can't go in.' I'm like, ‘I can't go in? Isn't all the media in there?' He's like, ‘Yeah. You can't go in. Bro, I'm sorry.'”

Haynes eventually tracked down someone from the Cavs' public relations department to let him in. Upon entering the locker room, he was met with a laughing LeBron James.

Fun times.
