SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Basketball is full of heated conversations between players, coaches, and referees. These discussions sometimes end with a technical foul. There aren't many players more familiar with receiving technicals than Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green.

Sunday, while playing the Sacramento Kings, he received another technical. After the 109-90 victory, he was kind enough to share the conversation he had with the official.

“I said that was dead wrong,” Green told ClutchPoints. “Then the official went on to tell me you spoke to me very generously. You were very generous speaking to me. I gave you a tech for talking to me.”

The outspoken Warriors star knows he deserves some of the penalties he receives, but he doesn't think they all are fair. His reputation with officials makes him a huge target, and the veteran understands it.

“So where am I at 14 techs?” Green asked. “My last three were kind of insane, but I guess I haven't met the quota yet? So I'll probably get to 15 like I do every year is. It is what it is.”

16 technicals in the regular season triggers a one-game suspension. The playoffs bring about a new set of rules.

Meanwhile, Green and his teammates are focused on finishing the season positively. They won both games of a back-to-back this weekend, so they're off to a good start.

Their remaining games are against the Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, and New Orleans Pelicans. All three games will be challenging, but they are all winnable games.

This weekend, the Warriors collected their 50th win of the season and clinched their first postseason berth (non-play-in division) since 2019. If the Warriors are healthy, they can make some real noise, and they will also need Green to be careful with the officials.
