Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green had a different opinion when asked about the benching of rookie center James Wiseman in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night. The veteran claimed that he was skeptical as to whether or not his teammate truly deserved to receive punishment from head coach Steve Kerr, via Anthony Slater.

Nonetheless, Green said that he still respected his mentor's decision and left Wiseman's situation to Kerr's own judgment instead.

Wiseman previously left San Francisco during the All-Star break and subsequently missed a COVID-19 test which caused him to skip the team's practice on Wednesday. After learning about the mishap, Kerr became upset with the situation, considering that the Warriors will need Wiseman on the floor when they head to Los Angeles.

As a disciplinary action, Kerr decided to bench Wiseman for the majority of their game against the Clippers. With the Warriors receiving a beating from their opponents, the 19-year-old big man was eventually given a chance to see action in garbage time.

Wiseman recorded 14 points and seven rebounds in 12 minutes played en route to absorbing a 130-104 loss. The lopsided defeat eventually dragged the Dubs to a 19-19 record for the ninth seed in the Western Conference.

At the end of the day, Draymond Green may have a different take on the situation but Steve Kerr just wanted to instill discipline unto the rookie and hold him accountable for his actions. Hopefully, James Wiseman will be able to get past his rookie mistake and make better decisions moving forward.
