San Francisco, CA – The Golden State Warriors are in an interesting position this year. They're a top team in the NBA. Their roster has two lottery picks from this year's NBA draft. That makes them a team with a ton of depth. It makes it extremely difficult for a developing rookie to get in the rotation. But the No. 7 pick in this year's draft Jonathan Kuminga, has figured out how to get minutes, according to head coach Steve Kerr.

“As long as he goes out there and runs the floor and plays defense, and takes care of the ball, and passes like he did tonight. We're going to continue to give him opportunities,” Kerr told ClutchPoints.

Friday night against the Chicago Bulls was Kuminga's best performance. The Warriors big man finished the game with 8 points on 4-of-6 shooting off the bench. He had the defensive assignment of covering DeMar DeRozan and did a good job. He forced him to shoot over the top and made things slightly uncomfortable for the All-Star guard.

“He basically missed most of camp. So he was swimming upstream a little bit. I think over the last week, he's made huge strides, and we wanted to reward him,” Kerr said.

The rookie had two breathtaking dunks that forced Stephen Curry and his Warriors teammates to jump out of their seats. It was the first two dunks of his career. If he continues to get minutes, you can expect many more. That sounds like the plan, but it will depend on the flow of the game.

Coach Kerr was impressed with how Kuminga played alongside Curry. The more he plays with number 30, the easier it will be for the high-flying rookie to make an impact for the Warriors.
