Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors plays for a team which is in the middle of its last season in Oakland, given the Dubs' move to San Francisco next season. Durant is now joined in Oakland by another athlete who will play a final season in that city before a franchise moves to another location: Antonio Brown of the Oakland Raiders.
The news of Brown's journey to the Raiders broke late Saturday night. On Brown's Instagram page, Kevin Durant was there to welcome Oakland's newest pro athlete. The city might not host either the Warriors or Raiders much longer, but for the time being, these two superstars live in the same place.
Durant thought he would reach out:

The Raiders are supposed to move to Las Vegas before the 2020 NFL season. Obviously, the Warriors are staying in the San Francisco Bay Area, but it remains that Oakland will no longer be the center of the action for either the Dubs and Durant or the Raiders and Antonio Brown. It is fascinating enough that Brown came to the Raiders at all, but the fact that he is coming to the Raiders one year before a scheduled move to a completely different part of the country makes this story resonate in many additional ways.
Durant is, himself, a speculation of relocation rumors. Everyone in the NBA is wondering if Durant will move back to the East Coast (he grew up near Washington, D.C.) and make a home with the New York Knicks.
Antonio Brown has found a landing place in the NFL for the coming season. Now everyone will wonder where Kevin Durant will settle before the next NBA campaign. Such are the current cycles of life in Oakland, and in the larger realm of professional sports.
