Golden State Warriors big man Kevon Looney will likely be available for the team when they face the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night for their first game of the 2019-20 season.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that should Looney be cleared to play, he could start at center for Golden State.

Kevon Looney has been nursing a hamstring injury, which he sustained earlier in training camp. While the Warriors consider the injury not serious, they still took some precaution and sidelined the 23-year-old center this preseason

Looney chose to re-sign with the Warriors this summer, and he's expected to have a bigger role with the team, especially after the Dubs re-tooled its roster in the wake of Kevin Durant's departure and Klay Thompson's injury.

A Milwaukee native, Looney put up career-highs in points (6.3), rebounds (5.2) and assists (1.5) in 2018-19 with the Warriors. He helped the team reach the NBA Finals, but they bowed down to Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors in six games.

The new-look Warriors will usher in a new era, and while a lot has changed with the team since the end of last season, their goal remains the same: to make the playoffs and compete for the championship.
