Klay Thompson is not expected to play for the Golden State Warriors at the start of the 2021-22 season, but Stephen Curry and Co. will be happy to know they have a capable replacement for him in Jordan Poole.
Poole has been impressive for the Warriors so far in training camp and preseason, establishing himself as the perfect player to plug in at shooting guard as the Dubs await Thompson's return.
Steve Kerr himself acknowledged Poole's performance, noting that he doesn't see the youngster losing the starting spot until Thompson comes back:
“For now, he’ll be in that starting spot and he’s playing so well, it’s hard to envision not keeping him there,” Kerr said of Poole, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Jordan Poole has already scored 47 points and handed out eight assists in 44 minutes in the preseason. He scored 30 in the Warriors' opening preseason game against the Portland Trail Blazers before following it up with a 17-point display against the Denver Nuggets.

With the way he is playing, Steve Kerr's praise is definitely not without merit.
For what it's worth, Stephen Curry himself has been supportive of Poole and his rise as a huge contributor for the Dubs. In fact, in a recent interview with ClutchPoints, the 22-year-old called Curry his “Big Bro” who has been teaching him a lot of things:
“It’s year three for me, and I think this is year 13 for Steph. I’m ten years of knowledge behind, and that’s the guy that I want to ask questions,” Poole shared. “It’s amazing, and we’re both competitive, and we always want to get better. Whenever we go against each other, it’s always competitive, and we try to push each other as much as possible. I try to push him to let him be as great as he can be. I try to learn as much as possible from him.”
Thompson is expected to return to the Warriors by late November or early December, and by the looks of it, he doesn't have to really rush things with Poole showing he is more than capable of filling the void he has left.
