Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson put on an absolute show Friday night in Seattle, scoring 30 points against the Sacramento Kings on a blistering 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. Thompson hit five 3-pointers in the first nine minutes and had the crowd at KeyArena buzzing.

Of course, much of the hype surrounding the game was the return of Kevin Durant to Seattle. Durant played one NBA season in Seattle. That was during his rookie year back in 2007. The SuperSonics then became the Thunder and the franchise moved to Oklahoma City in 2008.

Thompson told reporters postgame the contest didn't feel like a preseason game at all, and that he and the players appreciated the energy the fans showed from start to finish.

The city of Seattle has been petitioning to get an NBA team back ever since the Sonics left. Durant and Seattle native Jamal Crawford have said multiple times the city deserves to have a team because of how passionate the people are in basketball. At KeyArena, the seats are literally right on top of the court, so the liveliness and crowd noise is intense. It's a great basketball venue and it's a shame the NBA hasn't put a team there.

At least for one night, basketball was back in Seattle. The fans got to see one of the best teams of all-time perform and two of the best shooters in the world go to work in Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant. Hopefully, it was a night the fans in Seattle won't ever forget.
