San Francisco, CA – Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is the heart and soul of the team. You can make an argument that no player in the organization has made as many sacrifices as him. After building a reputation as one of the most valuable players in the league, 10 years later he's still making huge sacrifices.

The latest sacrifice was starting last Sunday during Thompson's much-awaited return. Right after the opening tip, Green immediately fouled so he can be subbed out the rest of the game. He had an injured calf but wanted to start with Thompson for his first game back.

“I think Draymond only cares about one thing and that's winning,” Thompson told ClutchPoints. “He does things that don't show up in the box score. I think real basketball heads know that Draymond is a winner. He has been at every level and he's very selfless as a teammate and it just felt right to have him out there for even a second. I appreciate him and I can't wait to compete with him again. He's such a great cerebral player.”

Green stepping on the court for a few seconds might not seem like a big deal, but it is. He is hoping to be an All-Star this season and him stepping on the floor and subbing out negatively impacts his season averages heavily. Being out there with his teammates to start the game earned him zero points, zero rebounds, zero everything besides one personal foul.

But Green didn't care one bit. All he cared about was being there for his teammate and friend.

Draymond Green will not play for the Warriors on Tuesday against the Memphis Grizzlies due to tightness in his left calf.
