As intriguing as the 2017-18 NBA season has been thus far, it is actually the referees who have dominated the headlines as of late. Over the last week, fans have witnessed the ejection of superstars LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Davis.

Now, the referees have added another Golden State Warriors player to the list by ejecting guard Shaun Livingston early in the game versus the Miami Heat.

Here is another angle of the exchange between Livingston and NBA referee Courtney Kirkland.

What makes this interaction so compelling is that it was unlike any other ejection that fans have seen lately. NBA refs are accustomed to the endless complaints they deal with a nightly basis, so they usually just proceed with the game rather than address every call. However, that was certainly not the case this time around.

Shaun Livingston was clearly frustrated by the no-call on Heat guard Tyler Johnson during the shot attempt. Then as he starts to plead his case, Kirkland can be seen getting up into Livingston's face before the two literally butt heads. To no surprise, the Warriors' veteran guard was quickly ejected after playing just six minutes.

NBA referees have been heavily criticized as of late by both players and fans for their recent slew of ejections. However, it will be interesting to see how, or if, the league responds to the spat between Livingston and Kirkland.
