During Thursday's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr elected to bench rookie James Wiseman for three quarters. When Kerr spoke to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green about the decision, they apparently laughed at the situation.

“It was not a difficult call to make especially for a guy who’s 19 and figuring things out. I talked to Steph and Draymond, you know they laughed thinking about their time when they were rookies in this league, and remember those guys played college basketball for three, four years also — they were older and more experienced,” Kerr shared, via Jessica Kleinschmidt of NBC Sports.

Coming out of the All-Star break, James Wiseman missed a mandatory COVID-19 test, causing him to be absent during the Warriors practice last Wednesday. Due to Wiseman's questionable choice, Kerr decided to bench the rookie center to send a message.

Steve Kerr also pointed out that the only reason why Wiseman saw any playing time on Thursday versus the Clippers was due to the game being a blowout. The accomplished head coach then shared how Curry and Green were more mature coming into the NBA since they spent more time in college.

Before being taken with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Wiseman only played in three games at Memphis prior to preparing for the NBA. In his rookie season, Wiseman has failed to show consistency for the Warriors, causing him to have an undetermined role.

It's evident that Kerr is still a believer in Wiseman's abilities to develop into a talented player sooner rather than later. But for the time being, Wiseman will need to prove to the Warriors coach that he's capable of being responsible as a professional athlete.

Hopefully, Wiseman has learned his lesson and will be more responsible moving forward.
