Seth Curry was minutes away from brotherly glory. The Philadelphia 76ers guard had outscored his big brother Stephen Curry for nearly their entire game against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.
With Seth holding a two-point lead with one minute and change left in the contest, Steph sank a three-pointer to take back his rightful place on top. Steph 25, Seth 24. The game was far from competitive, but the Currys still had something to play for.
But the Warriors star claims he had no idea that he was shooting for something of any value at that 1:27 mark. If he had just held off, it would have marked the first game ever that Seth had outscored him in a head-to-head duel.
Via Justin Grasso:
“I didn't know he was outscoring me,” said Stephen Curry after the Warriors win. “He reminded me right after the game. I didn't know the stakes were so high on that shot. The game was over, and I was wide open.”
Seth Curry led the way for nearly the entire contest, both on the team scoreboard and the head-to-head matchup, But as Stephen Curry and the Warriors are wont to do, they stormed back to retake both leads. It just took Steph a little bit longer to catch up on the latter.

But sibling rivalry aside, Stephen Curry was nothing but proud of his little bro. The Warriors star heaped praise on Seth after the game.
“That dude is playing incredible basketball. He’s fun to watch. He’s continuing to get better. He goes at his own pace. He’s so under control. So I’m a proud, proud brother.”
Stephen Curry may be the greatest shooter of all-time and one of the greatest period, but Seth certainly is no slouch.
