Ja Morant won the battle against the Golden State Warriors. But the Memphis Grizzlies star truly believes Stephen Curry won the war – for the MVP award that is.

Morant reacted to a touching photo of him and Curry sharing a moment after their play-in tournament clash. Aside from calling it his favorite point guard matchup, he also dubbed the Warriors star as the one, true Most Valuable Player of the season.

Nikola Jokic, eat your heart out. Ja Morant could obviously just be paying homage to the greatness Curry personified in their thrilling do-or-die contest. But there are certainly those among NBA circle who firmly believe the Warriors' 2-time MVP deserves another one for his outstanding year.

Stephen Curry averaged career highs in points per game (32.0 PPG) and three-pointers made per game (5.3 3PM). His peripheral stats aren't far off from his unanimous MVP-winning year during the 2015-16 season, when the Dubs made history with their all-time best 73-9 record.

The Warriors' 39-33 record this season obviously pales in comparison. That massive record disparity becomes the biggest hurdle for Curry's candidacy. With Nikola Jokic having such a stellar season with the Nuggets, who also own a much better record, it's clearly a long-shot for Curry. But when it comes to the true definition of value, it's hard to argue that Stephen Curry is indeed most valuable to his team than any other player.
