San Francisco, CA – The Golden State Warriors lost a nail-biter against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. It was a low-scoring game that ended 89-86. Everyone struggled to put the ball in the basket—especially Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga at the free-throw line. He started the game 0-5 from the charity stripe before making his sixth attempt.
When Stephen Curry reflected on Kuminga's performance from the line, he looked at things positively.
“I think it could be good for him in terms of just dealing with a tough stretch and staying confident in yourself. That's all you can do in this league. You're going to go through pretty much everything at some point. So I'm excited to see how he bounces back,” Curry told ClutchPoints.

Kuminga finished the game 3-10 from the free-throw line. Early on, the free throws seemed to have him rattled a bit. In the second half, he found some composure and put together a good half. He played well enough for Steve Kerr to trust him in the most significant moment of the game.

With seconds left in the game, he almost scored the game-tying basket. But he was denied by the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. What almost was the play of the game for Kuminga and the Warriors turned into the play of the game for the Nuggets.
Even though Kuminga couldn't complete the play, it was nice to see him get on track in the second half. Fortunately, the rookie won't have to wait long for another chance at the Nuggets. The Warriors will play them again in their very next game on Thursday.
