The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors 103-100 in the play-in tournament after LeBron James hit a dagger 3-pointer in the final minute over Stephen Curry. While the Warriors had their chances late, they weren't able to make enough plays to pull out the win, and LeBron's miracle 3 proved to be the difference.

But ask the Dubs where they really lost the game, and they'll tell you in the third quarter. Both Curry and Steve Kerr acknowledged the disastrous third, per The Athletic's Anthony Slater, with the Warriors star noting the first few minutes of the frame “changed the dynamic of the game.” Kerr even warned his team about a letdown after halftime, and it still came to fruition.

Golden State was riding high going into halftime after a Curry triple put them up 55-42. But fouls and turnovers helped immediately close that gap to 57-56 just over three minutes into the quarter. While the Warriors hit back and pushed their lead back out to 12, the turnovers continued to be a big issue and the lead was just two heading into the fourth quarter.

The Dubs turned the ball over eight times in the quarter after coughing it up only five times in the first half. Seven more turnovers in the fourth quarter resulted in a total of 20 for the game. While the Lakers' defense deserves credit for ramping up the intensity, some of the turnovers could have been avoided.

The Warriors know they'll need to be more careful with the ball in order to beat the Memphis Grizzlies in an elimination game on Friday. If that happens and Golden State faces the top-seeded Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs, taking care of the ball will again be a point of emphasis after it cost them the play-in game against Los Angeles.
