The NBA Summer League has been a success for Golden State Warriors rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. Both have displayed what the scouting report showed and a little extra. Headed into their final game of the Summer League, both players averaged roughly 17 points per game. Moody put on an impressive shooting display while Kuminga has been an absolute game-changer.
Sometimes with a highlight dunk or a defensive stop, Kuminga, who isn't a great shooter, just finds a way to impact the game. He can guard positions one through five, and he's showed the ability to make plays for others at times. The 18-year-old has looked like gold. Kuminga's understanding of the game probably deserves more credit than he gets. His freakish athleticism has outshined some of his other qualities, and his willingness to learn and defend will be essential for him to be in the regular-season rotation.
Moreover, the rookie should be a helpful addition this season for Stephen Curry and the Warriors. Watching him grow as he matures under some championship veteran leadership should be fun to watch. He won't shy away from big moments and could end up being key in certain situations. The sky is the limit for Kuminga, and he knows it.
