Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr understands the comparisons between Stephen Curry and Atlanta Hawks rookie Trae Young. However, he believes that it should be shelved for the time being.
Steve Kerr said that it's pretty obvious that Trae Young's playing style was inspired by Stephen Curry. Nonetheless, the Warriors coach pointed that fans and the media alike should see first how the Hawks' rising star develops in the next couple of years before making comparisons.

“But any comparisons have to wait. You have to see how he does over the next couple of years. But you also have to remember where Steph was back in 2010. Steph’s come a long way.”

A quick look at the statistics would prove Kerr's point. While highlights would show that Young easily knocks down 3-pointers from Curry-distance, he is currently shooting at 24.8 percent from downtown. It's nowhere near Curry's 48.1 percent clip from beyond the arc.
Sure enough, the comparisons are flattering for Young's part. From a bigger perspective, though, it's pretty unfair. Apart from Curry's game, analysts see a little bit of Steve Nash in him, especially with his pinpoint passing and superb vision. People don't just tag him as a poor man's Curry or Nash — people call him Trae Young.
