The Golden State Warriors were forced to press the panic button in the midst of a locker room scandal, choosing to suspend forward Draymond Green for his actions after last Monday's overtime loss to the L.A. Clippers. Head coach Steve Kerr and general manager Bob Myers were reportedly worried that Green's profanity-laced tirade would put the team's chemistry at stake, hoping a “cool down” game for Green would allow for time to repair a fractured relationship with Kevin Durant.
According to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic:
“Kerr and Myers believed that the entire chemistry of the team was at stake — not just to protect Durant but to make sure that the whole situation didn’t devolve into a series of personal grievances and lingering resentments.”
The Warriors could have fined Green a set amount and suit him up against the Atlanta Hawks, but the team had enough firepower to come out on top, allowing for Green to gather himself and mend his relationship with the back-to-back Finals MVP.

Green and Durant's back-and-forth in the locker room was no laughing matter, as the former chose to flip the tables on Durant after being criticized by an end-of-game misjudgment to pry on his free agency decision.
Some players in the locker room thought there is “no way” Durant would stay after what Green said to him that night, but the two seemed to have patched things up since through private conversations and the day-to-day nature of their profession.
Green spoke of the incident, but was completely unapologetic for his actions, only excusing them by saying that is how he deals with things, for better or worse.
