LeBron James is part of this story, believe it or not: Stephen Curry's imminent return to the Golden State Warriors will end what has been a long four months for Warriors fans and Steve Kerr. However, some may argue that Curry's return is too little, too late for the Dubs' playoff chances. Moreover, Klay Thompson's situation isn't making things better for the Dubs.

However, Steve Kerr offers a differing opinion from the critics. He thinks that the Warriors missing out on this year's playoffs isn't as bad as it seems. He uses LeBron James as a point of comparison on why a break from consistently making the playoffs could only mean good for the Dubs.

He pointed out, as written by ESPN's Nick Friedell, that James is playing a lot more different now compared to last season. He said that James taking a break after years of consistently making the Finals was good for him. He expects his stars on the Warriors to feel the same way as well.

“I'm very confident that both Steph and Klay have gotten the mental break,” Kerr said. “I almost look at it — look at LeBron this year. LeBron looks like a different guy than he did a year ago. And eight straight trips to the Finals, just crazy. That's a feat that people probably don't talk about enough, to understand the emotional toll that takes.

“So for our guys, five straight trips to the Finals, just the feeling of being wiped out, Steph and Klay have both gotten to get away, not under ideal circumstances, neither one has been able really to enjoy themselves physically because of their injuries, but just to step away from the fight, I think has been important.”

The Warriors are still favorites to make the Finals coming into the 2020-21 season, and they will most likely get the first overall pick of the 2020 Draft. This year of rest should do a lot of good for the Dubs moving forward, and teams will be wary of them next year.
