The Golden State Warriors are going through a really tough patch as the season winds down, so some good news would be useful for the team's morale. On Thursday at shootaround, coach Steve Kerr gave some insight on how James Wiseman is progressing.

Via Anthony Slater:

“I think from a health standpoint it's really going smoothly and that's the biggest thing,” the Warriors coach told the media. “What I will always keep circling back to is this guy needs reps. He needs a thousand reps and he needs a training camp. So, let's temper the expectations but be excited about his future because as he gets those reps, he's got the potential to be a tremendous player.”

Last year Wiseman had a knee injury that ended his rookie campaign. He has yet to play a game this season, but he's as close to a return as ever before. As a rookie, he averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 51.9% from the field.

The Warriors really could you the size of Wiseman more than anything. Although the team doesn't want to put too much pressure on the young big man, he is a huge key to their potential success. The seven-footer could be the answer to winning big in the postseason, and everyone knows it.

His return date isn't set but the time is coming soon. Kerr continues to inform the media that they are taking things day by day, so meanwhile, the Warriors are focused on fixing things with what they have until he's ready.
