With the Golden State Warriors finishing the Western Conference Finals in just five games and the Boston Celtics-Miami Heat series going the distance, Steve Kerr and his men got an extra day of rest. Sure enough, the veteran head coach is happy about that.

The Warriors barely had time to breathe throughout the first three rounds due to the tight schedule of the playoffs, in which there was only a day of rest between games for the most part–with some including traveling during road games.

Fortunately, they were able to handle the Dallas Mavericks rather quickly in the West Finals, giving them what Kerr said was a “rare” two days of rest to “decompress” before going back to training.

As Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated noted, Kerr shared how “meaningful” and “huge” the break is for the Warriors since they won't have to get on a plane and travel until June 6.

The NBA Finals is scheduled to start on Thursday, June 2, but the Warriors have homecourt advantage whoever they end up facing between the Celtics and Heat.

Golden State has a better record than Boston, while they have the tiebreaker against the Heat despite finishing with a similar 53-29 regular season record. That means they'll only travel on the road the week after before they play again on June 8.

Sure enough, that is a major rest advantage for Steve Kerr and the Warriors, who clearly need it after being tested for the most part of their 2022 playoffs run. Meanwhile, they'll be facing an exhausted Heat or Celtics team.
