The Golden State Warriors have finally received a bit of good news with regards to the imminent return of big man Kevon Looney. Dubs head coach Steve Kerr himself provided the update, saying that he is hopeful to see the 23-year-old back in action on Monday, as the Warriors take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Looney has played a grand total of just 10 minutes for the Warriors this season, as he was forced to exit the team's opener against the Los Angeles Clippers back in late October, and has since been dealing with a nerve-related problem. After missing 16 straight contests, the 6-foot-9 big man now appears to be nearing his return.

It is worth noting, however, that Kerr himself was not exactly firm on Looney's timetable, so it is certainly a possibility that the Warriors hold him out for Monday's contest and beyond, if need be. The team have no reason whatsoever to rush Looney back into action, with the season now looking like a lost one at this point.

On Friday, the Warriors lost again, this time suffering a 113-109 defeat at the hands of the Utah Jazz. Kerr only had eight active players available on the evening, and despite a respectable fourth-quarter run by his side, Golden State still fell short of an unlikely comeback victory.

Clearly, the defending Western Conference champs desperately need Looney back as soon as humanly possible, but surely, they won't be fielding the former UCLA standout unless he is a hundred percent healthy.
