Head coach Steve Kerr took some of the weight off the shoulders of Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson after the Golden State Warriors' recent shortcomings when they lost four out of five games in a busy yet turmoil-filled week.

Durant and Thompson have been forced to carry the load with absences to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, but have failed to provide the wins the team had hoped to get to quickly shed any rumors of a locker room implosion.

“They're both trying desperately to help us get going,” said Kerr, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. “We rely on them pretty heavily for scoring, obviously particularly with Steph out. But, again, we've got to get back to our team identity, which is great ball movement, really good defense, playing off of misses, getting out in transition, and moving the ball, getting great shots. That's easier said than done, but it's something we've done for many years.”

The Warriors have resorted to an isolation-heavy game without Curry in the lineup, lacking the ball movement and usual game flow that has made them such tough contenders to unseat during the past four years. Now plenty predictable, opposing defenses have honed into Thompson and Durant, resulting in three straight losses on the road and the undoing of a great start to the season.

Thompson insists the bad results are only a reflection of how poor the play has been on the court, not a carryover of Monday's tiff between Durant and Draymond Green, which made headlines across the nation.

“I don't think there's any drama really that affects how we play out there,” said Thompson. “I think it's just we're playing bad on our part. Can't blame the coaches — us players will take ownership. I guess there's a first time for everything. Steve's been here, I think, five years now and for the first time going 0-3? It's pretty good if you ask me. It's not the end of the world.”

The Warriors will have their chance to right the ship at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, another mettle-tester that will likely have them play without Curry or Green, who are both nursing injuries.
