Las Vegas, NV – The Golden State Warriors' first game of the NBA Summer League ended with an 89 to 91 overtime defeat to the Orlando Magic. Was it heartbreaking? No, because these games aren't necessarily about winning or losing. Of course, you always would like to win, but the summer league games are about a bigger picture. A rookie out of Arkansas, Moses Moody, gave his take on what these games mean to him.

“You know, really just preparation, that's what the summer league is about, getting in that atmosphere to be who you need to be when the season starts,” Moody told ClutchPoints.

As a fan, you would like to see your team win every game, but the reality is during the Summer League, that isn't the primary goal. The players want to win because of their competitive energy, but losing a game won't make or break the Warriors.

“It's really just me trying to prepare, just trying to get in those actions and get in game time situations. So I know what to do when it's time,” Warriors rookie Moses Moody explained.

Meanwhile, In the overtime defeat, Moody played a good game. He finished the game with 15 points on 6 of 13 shooting. He was the second-leading scorer behind his rookie classmate Jonathan Kuminga who poured in 16. Moody was 2 of 5 from deep and continues to knock down the corner three, which will be a considerable part of the Warriors offense.

Next up, the Warriors will play the Toronto Raptors, and you can expect another solid game from Moody. The rookie who could be a vital piece to the Warriors' success.
