The Golden State Warriors reportedly aren't high on James Wiseman, per Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Warriors will have a top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft for the first time in the Steve Kerr era.

Wiseman played three games for Memphis this season before leaving the school. He received a 12-game suspension from the NCAA:

According to multiple league sources The Chronicle contacted in the past few days, the Warriors — contrary to what mock drafts might suggest — aren’t believed to be high on two of the three players being mentioned as possibilities at the No. 1 pick: former Memphis center James Wiseman and point guard LaMelo Ball, who last played for the Illawarra Hawks of Australia’s National Basketball League.

As one source put it, “I think they’d only take one of those two if they were trading down in the draft and taking them for another team.”

LaMelo Ball is the younger brother of New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball. With the Warriors getting Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back next season, drafting Ball wouldn't make too much sense for the Warriors.

Wiseman averaged 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds for Memphis before leaving. He shot 76.9 percent from the field and 70.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Warriors had the worst record in the NBA before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19. This comes after the Dubs went to five straight NBA Finals, winning three and losing two.

The Warriors' core for next season will be Curry, Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and whoever the franchise takes with the lottery pick.
