The Memphis Grizzlies made the surprising decision to part ways with head coach David Fizdale after just 19 games into his second season with the team.
In response to that, veteran guard Mike Conley sent out a personal message showing a great amount of appreciation for playing under his former coach.
Adversity reveals character.. thanks for all the lessons learned and for helping me become a better player, leader, and overall better person. #weareblessed pic.twitter.com/x2v9mTkHS7

Although there were some reports indicating that he didn't exactly see eye-to-eye with some of the players on the team, Conley doesn't appear to be one of them. His comments give off the sense that he had developed a close bond with Fizdale over there one-plus seasons together in Memphis.
For what it's worth, Conley was experiencing his best statistical season in the 2016-17 campaign averaging career highs with 20.5 points on 45.9 percent shooting from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc in 69 games played. He had been off to another strong offensive start through 12 games averaging 17.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per contest.
Regardless of his standing with Conley, the Grizzlies were beginning to see their season head south after dropping their eighth straight game on Sunday afternoon against the Brooklyn Nets. Granted, the 30-year-old has been sidelined throughout that skid, the manner in which the team was playing may have provided the front office enough with a reason to move on from Fizdale.
